Overview

Just as in humans, a pet with cancer often needs an oncologist to help diagnose and treat the disease.

Early detection, specialized care and ongoing medical advances are helping to increase survival and cure rates in almost all the types of cancers that affect pets. From surgery to chemotherapy to immunotherapy, veterinary cancer specialists can offer your pet the latest diagnostic and treatment options and the best chance for survival with an excellent quality of life. With optimal treatment, some cancers may become another manageable chronic disease.

Coming to see the oncologist does not commit you to proceeding with treatment; they will discuss all the options and help you decide how to proceed. If you choose not to pursue treatment, they will help you and your family veterinarian with a plan to ensure your pet’s comfort.
